Was commissioned as illustrator for many of the major magazines and newspapers in the U.S.
In 1991 became Art Director at Time Magazine, in charge of International Edition
In 1992 became Art Director of New York Times Op-Ed pages
In 1995 established Mirko Ilic Corp., a studio specializing in editorial, identity design and hospitality design, as well as 3-D computer illustrations and graphics.
Received medals from Society of Illustrators, Society of Publication Designers, Art Directors Club, I.D. Magazine, Society of Newspaper Design, and others.
Works featured in over 200 books and 500 magazines.
